UPCOMING BUDGET ELECTRIC CARS FOR INDIA

In future Indian market will shift to EV cars to petrol and diesel cars. And currently will all are witnessing an electric vehicle boom. Government is also supporting the sales of electric vehicles by providing subsidies and tax credits benifit to the owner. People here are also showing their interest in electric vehicles as well. Keeping this in mind, companies and manufacturers are planning to bring some new affordable budget segment electric vehicles in India in the coming time. The pricing of these EVs will be around Rs 10 lakhs so that it can be affordable.

1. MARUTI WAGONR EV

Maruti WagonR has been one of the most favourite and loved family 5 seater cars in India. This hatchback has consecutively been on the top of the list of top selling Indian cars. So, the company is planning to bring the electric version of the WagonR in the coming time. The car was also spotted testing in Indian road, some months ago. The car will give a range close to 250km on a full charge. Charging time is expected to be around 7hrs to full charge and with DC fast charging, it is expected to charge 80 percent in an hour. Talking about the price, expectation is that, to be launched under Rs 10 lakhs.

2. UPCOMING BUDGET ELECTRIC CARS – RENAULT K-ZE

The Renault K-ZE would be totally based on the current generation Renault Kwid. The global version makes 43bhp of power & 125Nm of torque. It gets a 26.8kWh battery pack that takes four hours to fully charge from a slow charger. And with fast DC charging, it charges 30 to 80 percent in half-hour. Mostly car will gets it's similar specs of current generation of Kwid as well. This car will also give a range of close to 200km on a single charge.

3. MAHINDRA EKUV100

Mahindra has also always shown great interest in the electric car market. Mahindra was one of the initial brands to bring out an electric vehicle in the country, which we knew as the ‘Reva’. Currently, we expect the brand to launch a few electric cars in the coming years. The first on the latest list is expected to be the entry-level electric eKUV100. It would be completely based on their KUV100 in terms of looks and dimensions. It would be powered by a 40kW motor with a battery pack of 15.9kWh. The powertrain would be 40bhp & 120Nm torque. The AC charger would take around 6hrs for charging it completely and with DC fast charging, it will charge from 0-80 percent in an hour. It is expected to launch in India at a price tag of around Rs 9 lakhs. 

4. TATA TIAGO EV

Tata is already manufacturing electric cars – the Nexon EV and the Tigor EV. Very soon, we expect to see the electric version of the Tata Tiago as well in the Indian road. The car was showcased during the Auto Expo 2020. We expect it to be Tata’s budget electric car that would be priced lower than their Tigor EV.
